Area Events for October:

Warsaw

  • Soul Taker’s Acres is open from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays in October, and 8 p.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays, Oct. 2-31, at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds. Admission is $10 per person. A limited amount of fast pass tickets will be sold for $15 that allow guests to skip to the front of the line. In addition, a paintball ride against zombies, “Zombies Alive,” will be available for $8 for your first 100 paintballs and $5 for 100 additional paintballs. Smores, t-shirts and elephant ears will be available. All proceeds will go directly to the ADA fund. (See related article)
  • Ivy Tech Community College will host a spooktacular dubbed GMO Freak Show celebration called 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 29. The event is free and open to the public. The host of the event is the Beta Zeta Kappa chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society at two-year colleges.

  • First Christian Church Family Fall Festival will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. The event will include a family costume contest, food, games and face painting. Costumes should not be scary, bloody or revealing. Located at 115 Park Ridge Drive, Warsaw.

  • Freaky 5K & Family Fun Run/Walk will take place from 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Race begins at 9:30 a.m. with trick or treating at 11 a.m. Online pre-registration will have a deadline of Oct. 21. Cost is $25 per person; $45 per couple; $60 per family (same household, limit of four t-shirts). Race day registration will offer t-shirts while supplies last. Cost is $30 per person/$55 per couple/$65 per family. The event will be held at the K21 Health Pavilion located at 1515 Provident Court, Warsaw.
  • Touch of Life Church Trunk-or-treat will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. Oct. 31, at 2339 W. Old Road 30, Warsaw.

  • Eastlake Skating Center will hold a special Halloween-themed event from 7-10 p.m. Guests will be able to warm-up from the cold of trick-or-treating outdoors with fun exercise. Candy will be handed out and a costume contest will be held. Best overall costume will win free admission to all regularly scheduled sessions through 2015. Open skate will be
  • Wagon Wheel Jr., the youth theatre branch of Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, will present You Ain’t Nothin’ but a Werewolf at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 1. A pre-show open house will be held at 12:30 p.m. before each show.

Syracuse

  • The Haunted Thrill at Crosson Mill will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24; Friday, Oct. 30; Saturday, Oct. 30. With help from Wawasee High School Choir, the Syracuse Parks Department will host the fourth annual Haunted Thrill at Crosson Mill. The haunted park will be at Memorial Park at Crosson Mill located directly off of SR 13. The Haunted Thrill will feature several authentic scares that will make Crosson Mill the most haunted park in the area. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult. However, this event is not recommended for anyone under the age of 12.
  • Syracuse Community Center free carnival will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. The event will have a bounce house, costume contest, carnival games and crafts. Please bring coats and blankets as a donating to keep our community cozy this winter. The event is sponsored by Lakeland Youth Center and Syracuse Community Center.
  • Kid’s Halloween Treats will be supplied from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at The Syracuse Eagles, 12889 Kern Road. Children 13 and under will receive candy treats if they are in costume.
  • Syracuse Public Library will be inviting trick-or-treaters to the Enchanted Forest 6-8 p.m. on Halloween. Contact the Syracuse Library to help with set-up, costumes or acting at (574) 457-3022.
  • Burke’s Repo Outlet will host a chili cook-off in conjunction with Halloween sales Saturday, Oct. 31. First place prize is $100. Entries are free. Free seasonal beer, spooky punch and cider will be available. Located at 912 S. Huntington St., Syracuse.
  • The Motor Folkers will be performing form 8-11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at Oakwood Resort. The Motor Folkers was formed to entertain the masses with energy driven acoustic music! They pack every venue they play with fans who dance the night away. This is a band that people come to watch for the whole night because of the great variety of music they play, the stage dress and last but not least, the incredible showmanship. These guys play everything from night-clubs and private parties to festivals and other larger events! No cover charge and free parking.
  • Karaoke starts at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 at Duffy’s Pub and Grill. He Said She Said, the Halloween party band will be performing at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Duffy’s Pub and Grill, and hosting a costume contest. Judging will take place at midnight with $100 first prize. DJ Dizzle will be hosting a classic Halloween themed party with cash prizes Saturday, Oct. 31. Karaoke with John Huss will start at 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.
  • Pick Slide will be performing from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at The Frog Tavern. The event will also be a costume party.

Bourbon

  • Town halloween party following trick-or-treat (7 p.m) Saturday, Oct. 31, at the park. Costume contest and games.

Bremen

  • Kiwanis parade: 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. Starts at Bremen Fire Department; ends at Bremen Elementary-Middle School.

Clunette

  • Clunette United Methodist Church welcomes all kids and families to their annual Truck/Trunk Or Treat 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28. Kids are also invited to stick around and take part in Soul Searchers Youth Group that begins at 6:30 p.m. which will include a hot meal, fun games and crafts, and more.

Cromwell

  • The annual Halloween parade and carnival will begin with line-up at 4 p.m Oct. 31, in the former Wysong’s parking lot. The parade will begin its march at 4:30 p.m. with judging held at the Cromwell Community Center for best float. The parade will travel from there to 205 Water St., just west of the fire station, for carnival games until 7 p.m. A bounce house, concessions and games will be offered with more fun taking place at night. At 7:15 p.m. fireworks will take place following the carnival in the park.

Ligonier

  • Pumpkin Fantasy Land is open from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31. This year’s theme is “pick a book for fall.” Mazes, hay wagon rides, cider, donuts, ice cream and more will be available. Check out the learning center while visiting. Located at 1680 Lincolnway W., Ligonier.

Mentone

  • Goshert Farms Corn Maze will welcome visitors from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. The farm, located at 7132 S. 1300 W., Mentone, is Kosciusko’s one and only corn maze. The maze will challenge visitors with unique twists and turns. A kiddie straw maze, corn pit, petting zoo, pumpkins, gourds, mums, Indiana corn, and corn stalks will all be part of the attraction. The corn maze at Goshert Farms is an agri-tourism destination southwest of Mentone that offers a light-hearted, playful experience for all ages. Admission is $6 with children under 3 offered free admission. Group rates are available. Parking is free.

Milford

  • 11th Annual Lights Out At The Library will be held from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Milford Public Library. The theme this year is “have a graphic novel halloween.” Bring kids in costumes. Tour lasts 15 minutes. Children will receive a candy bar.
  • Karaoke with Chris Cage will be held form 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at Lizard’s Bar and Grill. A Halloween bash will be held Saturday, Oct. 31 with DJ Cage, including a costume contest, giveaways and spooky drink specials!

North Webster

  • The Amazing Haunted House, hosted by Boy Scout Troop 726 and the North Webster Lions, will be held from 6-10 p.m. Oct. 30, as well as Halloween night. Visit the North Webster Lions Fairgrounds for a night of fear if you dare. Admission is $5 for those age 5 and over.
  • North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Fire Department will be holding an open house on Halloween during trick or treat hours, 6-8 p.m Saturday, Oct. 31.  Cookies, candy, coffee and apple cider available. A costume contest will be at 8 p.m. for children up to age 12. Children will be judged in age categories and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. The costume contest is sponsored by the North Webster Lady Lions. Mutual Bank is supplying the candy.

  • Church of God trunk-or-treat will be held 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Games, activities and candy will be available. The event is rain or shine. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.

Pierceton

  • Pierceton Lion’s annual fall party will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. The event will be held at the Pierceton Elementary Gym.  EVENT CANCELED
  • Moonshine Alibi will be performing from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Pierceton Post. The event will also be a Halloween party and costume contest.

Plymouth

  • Downtown trick or treat from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Activities include a parade and trick-or-treat at local businesses.

Rochester

  • Haunted Woods at the Fulton County Historical Society starts tonight. We’re doing three weekends this year as this if our a 10th anniversary. Open Oct. 30-31. Tickets start selling at 7:30-11 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults (12 and older); $3 for ages 6-11; and anyone 5 and under gets in free. Anyone under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Silver Lake

  • Silver Lake Lions Club Halloween Party at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at the Silver Lake Conservation Building. Cash prizes for children and adults in costumes. Best costumes and oldest/youngest in costumes can win. Refreshments available.
  • Harvest Celebration during trick-or-treat (6:30-8 p.m.) Saturday, Oct. 31, at the old fire station downtown.
  • The Silver Inn will be having their annual Halloween costume party hosted by DJ Smitty at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Prizes will be given for the best dressed in different categories.
